When the opposition, led by Latin Academy coach William Dever, nearly erased a point deficit midway through the fourth quarter, Fenway senior Dasiah Thornton 11 points, 5 steals and junior Colby Upchurch 8 points, 6 rebounds turned up their competitive juices.

The duo scored the first 7 points of the fourth quarter and allowed Team Rice to hold on for a victory. Fenway senior Nattaly David added 10 points and three steals for Team Rice. We always want to win. But the day belonged to the Fenway Panthers and Thornton, who will graduate as a two-time all-star, three-time team MVP, and three-sport standout at Fenway. While the team led by New Mission coach Malcolm Smith led wire-to-wire for a victory, TechBoston coach Johnny Williams and his squad were all smiles throughout the free-flowing exhibition.

Bennett and Soares did team up for an alley-oop to electrify the crowd late in the first quarter, but Boston English junior Jaraiel Wiggins 14 points responded in the second quarter with a thunderous fastbreak slam.

Williams, who shared Player of the Year honors with Soares, opened the third quarter with a dunk and a pair of 3-pointers to make it and put the game beyond reach.
