Nishiki linear time trial bike
Last edited: Dec 29, RED Finally riding a big boys bike. Time trail aka funny bikes were popular like 7 years ago when the fixed gear trend was big. Problem is with these bikes being custom fitted and made for a specfic owner made them hard for re sale no matter the components, The fixed surge is over and time trial bikes belong on a Velodome not on the streets.
HPL said:. Thanks Mr. Monkeyarms, This is one bike where indexed shifting is a big plus. I did not do the parts swap out on this frame except chainrings. The barcons are a good upgrade for a friction build on this frame, but I'd prefer downtube indexed because that's "where I live" due to primarily riding late '60s-early '80s bikes.
I know I don't have any Shimano parts of that era so if you have some components kicking around I'd be very interested. That's what I'd need to bring it functionally back to original without the chain, pedals, and "Biopace" rings; I have the rings.
I'm also trying to find another 24" wheel, apparently not readily available, but I've seen a junior Orbea road bike with that size. Thanks, HPL. RED said:. You must log in or register to reply here. Similar threads. Pierce Model D. Motorbike, Angola. Replies 2 Views 2K.

Handlebar tape, front rack, tires Had a professional bike mechanic go over the bike and the only thing he recommended replacing was the front tire as it's began to crack from dry storage! The sizing for the bike is what I would call a medium-large. There are two points to attache accessories like an air pump or water bottle holder which one is included with bike. The pedals are original. The seat is a Selle"Hyper Plush" very comfortable. The seat has a little bit of wear at one The light generator is a type that mounts under the frame and engages the rear wheel at the same area that the tires meet the road.
I find this to be a better setup than those generators that contact the side of the tire. The setup is a German product. The rear lights bulb is out and can be purchase online. The front light works fine. The handle bars have new tape and included also is a bell to warn pedestrians of your approach.
The brakes are Dia-Compe side pull calipers. I have taken many pictures of the bike so you should have good idea of what you are buying. The bike rides excellent and Nishiki is known for being a quality bike. The Cro-Moly frame is very strong and much better than aluminum frames at absorbing road shock. There are numerous nicks, scratches and chips in the paint but overall it looks pretty good.
There are no dents or frame damage of any kind. The bike has wear and tear common to used road bikes. The bottom bracket has been repacked, the wheels, front and rear derailleur's, and all the cabling have been serviced so it is road ready. The chain is lubed but still has some of the old weather protect. Nishiki Professional Road Bicycle.

TIRES 27"x 1. Century, bicycle 10spd Dark blue color Product of Taiwan. Looks like a girls' bike. Seat is in excellent condition. Little corrosion on the front wheel-see picture.
Tires are strong and are holding air. The rubber on the handlebar has some ware on it. Wi is located just south of Milwaukee. Double butted frame KS, with no cracks, breaks or repairs that I can see. The paint has numerous scrapes, and honestly looks worse in person than in the pictures. In fact, practically everything looks better in the pictures than in person. It will need a minimum of a good cleaning. Lubrication, brake pads, tubes, saddle, etc.

Racing bikes are also known as road bikes, and they typically feature dropped handlebars that are lower than the saddle.
The front and rear wheels are close together, and the gear ratios are closely spaced. Speed and aerodynamics are emphasized over comfort.
Vintage racing bicycles, like the Nishiki bikes, are commonly constructed from steel tubing or aluminum and titanium alloys.
Production of the Nishiki brand moved to Taiwan in the s, and the company began producing more mountain and other off-road types of bicycles at Giant of Taiwan. A mountain bike is similar to other bicycles, but it includes features that enhance performance in rough terrains, such as large and knobby tires, powerful brakes, straight handlebars, and lower gear ratios.
Richard R. Cunningham is a well-known bicycle designer and a member of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. During Nishiki's years of production at the Giant plant in Taiwan in the s, Cunningham helped design several mountain bike models, such as the Nishiki Alien and the Nishiki Saga, and his name is inscribed on the bikes he designed.
Nishiki bikes were first manufactured in Japan in the s and the s and in Taiwan in the s and s. During the early years of production, the Kawamura plant in Japan and the Giant plant in Taiwan produced many racing and mountain bike models, including these models you can find on eBay:.
